My grandparents' families lived for a time in Stockton and some were born there according to their death certificates. They were all coal miners and eventually settled in Wilkes Barre. Their surnames were Degnan, Meehan and Mulherin. Of course the names could have been spelled differently in the mid to late 1800's but I would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows anything about the families and the history of Stockton. I have been unsuccessful in locating any family certificates such as birth, christenings etc. and would like to know which Catholic church the family might have attended as they may have some records. Thanks in advance. Mary P.

My family roots go back to West Hazleton and McAdoo. A lot of pleasant memories from the 60's & 70's . The old homestead is still in the family and I visit when I can. There is something about the region that draws me back. Could it be the distinct taste combo of Senape "pitz" and Farmer's Ice tea ( Farmer's ice tea proves that the south did not invent sweet tea!). Perhaps the spicy bite of a Jimmy's hot dog with the works or a coney island from the Leader department store lunch counter. Does anyone remember the Laurel drive-in , Mt. Laurel pool or Angela Park in the summer?

Just logged onto your website while looking for info re: huckleberries. Imagine my surprise to find all this info about McAdoo and the Coal Regions. I'm retired and considering moving back to the area. There is no place like the Coal Regions for family life and outdoor recreation, and the friendly people make it so much more desirable. Thanks for making my day!
