Looking down the mountain into Shenandoah from the Heights - I could see the Reading Railroad Steam Camel-Back Locomotive puffing up the tracks with its Bobber Caboose - and in view the Lehigh Valley two steam Locomotives in front pulling 35 Hopper Cars of coal with three Locomotives in the rear pushing the train up the grade onto Yatesville and distance Delano. And yes, the Lehigh Valley Doodle Bug Gasoline Powered Pasenger car pulling into the Lehigh Valley Station. And in the far distance two Pennsylvanis Steam Locomotives and their Slope-Back Tenders hauling 15 Hopper Cars of coal from William Penn colliery. And the whistle ...the whistle echoing...across the mountains of the Henry Clay Narrow Guage Steam Locomotive hauling 15 Mine Cars of coal past the Heaven Bank and the Eagle Rocks into Shenandoah City Breaker. And in a second I closed my eyes - and then it was all gone - the whistle - the wonderful memories of a 14-year old lad - you can never go home again - only in your memories of the trains chugging in Shenandoah.
