Hey all you Shamokin people... The first week of
September, I started off to climb Mt. Washington in New Hampshire,
6288 feet, after a 5 hour climb me and my buddy Raht got to the top,
where there is a weather observatory and a guestbook where people
sign in when they visit, most people take the auto road, and there
were 2 people who signed in that day from Frackville. There I was on
the summit of the highest peak in the Northeast and it was visited
by 4 coal regioners in the same day. Neat. Still looking to
relocate, but where are the jobs !!

because of my injuries I sustained while serving my country, I am

| I remember the Johnny Cash song - I'll walk the line. In my
early youngster days in Shenandoah we kids did walk the 4 and half
mile long Reading Railroad Branch Line Tracks from Shenandoah thru
Lost Creek onto Shenandoah Junction near Giradville - where the
Shenandoah Branch Line Tracks met the Reading Railroad Main Line
Tracks - than ran from Tamaqua thru Giradville onto Shamokin. I'm
inquiring if the old Reading Railroad Shenandoah Branch Line Tracks
in Lost Creek are still rusty or being used by the new kid on the
block - the Reading & Northern Railroad operating Coal Trains on
this old Shenandoah Branch Line? ? ? ?

| Da coal region is da greatest place in da world to live. I
loved readin the sleigh-ridin lists. I'm from frackville (aka Da
frack nowadays) & the best sleighridin the was always either the
elks hill or kotchies & morgans twin hills off Washington st.
near the memorial park. Best swimmin is the pekas out near the fir
school, no one mentioned the pottsy dam that one was always fun, or
the ponds & cricks behind cardinal brennan. The site makes me
homesick & reminds me that everywhere else on this planet sucks
compared to the coal region.

A reunion committee has been formed for the OLOL Class of
’63. Given that most of our classmates have left the region but
still keep in contact through this Coalregion WEB site, this would
be a good opportunity to get in touch and give serious consideration
to attending our 40th anniversary. We’ve lost a number of our
classmates since the 30th reunion so this year would be a great
opportunity to rekindle those friendships made between ’59 and ’63.
A suggested date is September 2003 with a final date to be confirmed
by the committee. Even if you don’t think you will be able to make
it, drop us a line anyway and we will keep you informed on the final
date and planned activities for this milestone celebration.

How about those Mt. Carmel Area Red Tornadoes! and Shamokin

reason to get up every day. Looks like another state title for
Big Red and a very bright future for the Indians with Carmie at

really show the doubters what coal region football is all about!
