There are probably as many good spots, that is number 1's as you get votes because they all sound great and everyone has their own special memories. We use to start by Stask's Bar on the top of Cherry Street, you could go all the way to the West End Coal Yard if you went down Cherry Street and avoided the cars (even with look outs I saw a few guys loose some teeth, but no hospital cases). But from the same spot you could go South perpendicular to Cherry (I forget the name) and try to avoid hitting the rail road tracks at the bottom of the hill. Usually you flipped over and got buried in the snow. What great memories. Of course there was also the chance to go North, turn on Oak Street and go all the way down to where the Super Market is now. I actually saw my sister get piled up real good and messy and didn't know it was her until I got home. Worse part was the walk back to the top of any run. |
